Mustard Sauce

Mustard is a condiment made from the seeds of the mustard plant, and widely used in casseroles, sauces, pickles, salads, dressings etc. A simple and easy to make mustard sauce recipe is presented here for our readers.


Ingredients:

30g butter
1 ½ tbsp flour
1 cup stock
1 tsp dry mustard
½ tsp vinegar
1 tbsp cream
1 egg yolk
Salt, pepper


Directions:

1. Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in flour, cook until light brown; remove from heat.
2. Gradually add stock, blend well. Return to heat, stir until sauce boils and thickens.
3. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
4. Blend mustard and vinegar with a little of the sauce until smooth. Add to sauce, blend well.
5. Remove from heat, stir in cream and beaten egg yolk.
