hamiltongardensarts2.jpgHamilton is set to serve a summer cocktail of fun in the beautiful surroundings of Hamilton Gardens.

With 65 performances and 200 events, the Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival will be a celebration of arts, comedy, theatre, music, film and food and wine expected to attract thousands of visitors to the Waikato region.

Garden-lovers are sure to enjoy The Dig Day Out, from 10am, February 26, where visitors will be invited to sample the life cycle of a garden in the Sustainable Backyard and Kitchen Gardens. Run by the Hamilton Permaculture Trust, the event is sure to be a ‘dig’ hit with garden gurus and ‘green’ garden rookies alike.

The musical highlight of the festival will be a performance by world-renowned soprano, Dame Malvina Major on the stunning Rhododendron Lawn on February 25. Little River Band lead singer, Glenn Shorrock, will also take to the stage with singer Mark Williams and OpShop’s Jason Kerrison on February 24.

Other events include the Food, Wine & Jazz Festival (Rogers Rose Garden – February 25-26), Art Circles – a showcase of artists from the region (the Piazza and on the Lakeside Court - February 25), and the Teddy Bear’s Picnic Beach Party (the Rhododendron Lawn – February 19).
