The best advice I could give anyone is to find a designer that you like and that listens to you. It's important they get a feeling for the style your are after.
Don't feel embarrassed that you don't know what all the plant names are, or what the style you like is called. Have magazines, pictures, books or photos of designs you like and talk to your designer about them. The more information you can give them the better job they will be able to do. Your garden is an extension of your personality - don't hide that from your designer.
Garden Design is a critical and fun part of setting up a garden. Whether it's a new garden or re-designing your current garden its often hard to know where to start.
