Sadly, gone are the beautiful blooms and sensational designs of the 2012 Ellerslie International Flower Show which was a resounding success for exhibitors, the organisers and the city of Christchurch.

It was so uplifting to be there among like-minded people - gardeners, landscapers, flower and tree lovers, florists, growers and nurserymen (and women) - their skills, experience and sense of artistry provided more boost than a healthy dose of Tui Eco Fert!

Positivity and support for this year's show was in abundance and I must admit to becoming quite carried away by the wealth of products and garden ideas. Before leaving, my other half urged me to be circumspect with my spending. But, I don't know, that was a pretty tall order and I admit to returning home with more than a few purchases plus a satchel bulging with pamphlets and business cards.

Now, it's back to work in my own garden where there's definitely some dead-heading and weeding to be done, So, while I get stuck in, you can all enjoy another peek at Ellerslie in this week's slideshow of absolutely extraordinary garden costumes by Jenny Gillies. Have a great week everyone and just remember: gardening forever - housework whenever (or maybe not).
