The spell of hot and fine summer weather experienced a pause this week and our gardens received the gift of the much needed rain. Even though still hot and extremely humid, we’re not complaining as some of the drought affected regions were crying for some reprieve.

This week we continue our gardening journey by looking at growing beans and exploring marigolds, the perfect companion flowering plants. We received some bright recipes as a result of last week’s cucumber article, and we share a couple of them here with you. The slideshow features the second part of Dove Myer Robinson Park’s enchanting flowers.

We also have a new competition for you to win ‘The Essence of Living Simply’ book, an ecofriendly and cost-conscious guide using essential and fragrant oils, by Jane Wilks.
