Italian Plain Leaf parsley has plain flat leaves unlike the more common Triple Curled type. Many people think flat leaf parsley has a stronger flavor.
When, where and how to plant:
Parsley likes a well-drained, moisture-retentive soil & benefits from good drainage. You can also grow it in containers. Parsley can be quie fussy when it comes to soil quailty & prefers a rich soil in rotted organic matter and a little bit of general purpose fertiliser
• In many parts of New Zealand Parsley can be grown all year round but in colder areas sow in late summer
• Growing from seed can require a 3-4 week germination period sometimes longer
• Grows best if it receives 6 hours of sunlight a day with shade for the rest of the time.
Pick parsley as you need it by cutting the outermost stalks just above groudn level to promote further gorwth.
How to use:
Both stalks & leaves can be eaten. you can even dry or freeze it. Chop & sprinkle on top of food.
