image001.jpgItalian Parsley
Italian Parsley or flat leaf parsley as its sometime known is a bright green herb that is hardy and easy to grow all year round. During the winter months you will find it best to buy plants as apposed to seed as the cool temperatures slow down the germination of the seed.

When, where and how to plant:
Italian parsley likes a well-drained, moisture-retentive soil & benefits from good drainage. You can also grow it in containers.

Growing Guide:

In most parts of New Zealand Italian Parsley can be grown all year round
Growing from seed can require a 3-4 week germination period sometimes longer
Grows best if it receives at least 6 hours of sunlight a day

Harvest:
Pick parsley as you need it by cutting the outermost stalks just above ground level to promote further growth.

How to use:

Both stalks & leaves can be eaten. Chop and add to salads, stir fries, savory dishes and soups.
