Superior Tools for the World
Our company was founded on the belief that we could create tools that surpass those at the top end of the international market. To do this we went back to first principles like those epitomized by the tools used in Victorian times. Tools made by craftsmen with no short cuts to suit mass production. Our priority was for quality and design, not price, so we have made tools that will become heirlooms. One hundred percent functional, durable and made of the highest quality material.

We carried out research and assessed tools manufactured in France, Taiwan, Germany, China, USA, Canada and the United Kingdom where we found tools made of materials ranging from floppy plastic through to heavy steel and clumsy aluminum tools. Nowhere did we find tools made in cutlery grade stainless steel with correct geometry, proper working handles and attention to ergonomic factors. Another feature of our tools is that the forks and trowel tangs are investment castings in 17.4ph stainless steel and the trowel blade 304 stainless steel.

All tools feature a cranked tang which gives finger clearance and leverage but in all cases the handle axis is aligned with the end of the tool. This important, and usually overlooked design feature, ensures the user’s writs is in a neutral relaxed position enabling not only ease of use for long spells, but a boon to those who might suffer from wrist problems or arthritic conditions.

One of the significant differences between our tools and others is the design and geometry. All our tools are designed for minimum resistance. The forks have very slim sharp tynes and the trowels have a conical section so that they don't jam, and are properly shaped and sharpened. The over-riding feature is that the handle is in line with the working end. This means that the tool is neutral on the wrist, in contrast with most tools which are bent and out of line. Our tools are cranked to not only give finger space but be in line to eliminate tension stress. Because we hand craft a high proportion of the manufacture of our tools we are able to assist folk who have all sorts of disabilities and requirements and enjoy the challenge of designing and making special hand tools to enable folk to still potter in the garden.
