While she may be from the home of the 'Kamo Kid', Val Stevens says good gardening is certainly not child's play!
At her home in Kamo, just outside of Whangarei, the veteran gardener spends as much free time as possible cultivating her lovely garden - her oasis, refuge and larder.
Cooking up treats, using produce grown and harvested fresh from her garden, Val says she is pasionate about working closely with nature, growing as much as possible for her table.
With help from her son Jason, Val grows everything from walnuts to avocados, preparing tasty dishes for friends, family and neighbours.
