International garden celebrities to visit New Zealand

landscapingNew Zealand is set to play host to some of the world’s most highly acclaimed names in garden design. They will take to the stage in September (along with a couple of local design experts), at the NEW ZEALAND LANDSCAPE AND GARDEN DESIGN CONFERENCE  being held at the Waipuna Conference Centre, Mt Wellington, Auckland   5-6th September. Private garden enthusiasts from all over New Zealand, including a strong South Island contingent, have already taken advantage of the earlybird registration offer (closes July 2nd).

Delegates can expect to rub shoulders with other private gardeners, designers and landscape architects as they come together to be inspired and challenged. Apart from the two day conference, there’s also a fabulous pre conference garden tour and post conference masterclasses with Rosemary Alexander.

The International line up includes: Rosemary Alexander (UK), Marta Montero (S. America),  Nancy Power (USA),Thomas Woltz (USA), Josh Byrne (Aust), Ed Snodgrass (USA), Eric Ossart and Arnaud Maurières (Europe).

landscapingThe theme of the conference is Designing the Liveable Landscape.  Conference Director, Warwick Forge, explains: “Increasingly, people are demanding more from their outdoor living spaces and the question arises −how do we ensure that this is done successfully −in ways which maximise liveability but also ensure that gardens are attractive and make ecological sense today?”

Bev McConnell, owner of one of New Zealand’s best known private gardens, Ayrlie, says: ‘The line up of speakers looks fabulous. Anyone remotely interested in creating a garden should attend this conference. Seldom do we have the opportunity to be inspired beyond our dreams .”
